PhD Overview
Characterized transgenic soybeans to verify the effects of drought on soybean plants, with a particular focus on the nodules. Molecular and Phenotypic Markers for the detection of traits associated with the introduced gene’s effects on growth and development of soybean plants were documented. Particular attention was paid to cysteine proteases and cysteine proteaseinhibitors (cystatins) and the changes that occur in these proteins during natural and drought induced senescence. Finally, the effects of drought on transgenic soybeans with ectopic expression rice cystatin (oryzacystatin-1, OC-1) were verified.
